OUR HISTORY
At Key City Foundation, we believe a little support can make a world of difference. Since 2018, we've been committed to creating meaningful impact by bringing fresh ideas and passion to everything we do. Through our efforts, we aim to reflect the strength of our convictions.
IMPACTING LIVES
The Key City Athletics Foundation is pioneering the future of youth sports and community giving, starting with Key City Lacrosse. Our mission is to expand this model to other sports, providing high-level competition at significantly reduced costs and offering scholarships—so finances are never a barrier to participation. We’re seeking players with strong values and an exceptional work ethic.
FUTURE OF YOUTH SPORTS
Less than 38% of kids ages 6 to 12 play team sports on a regular basis.
10.5 is the average age most kids quit regularly playing a sport. Quality of coaching and costs of the sport are two main contributors to this statistic. How you coach each child from the ages of 6 to 12 impacts their future drastically. Our model for kids ages 6 to 12 will promote a community of fun and learning for athletes of all skill levels without the unnecessary costs. Our goal is to continually increase this percentage every single year with quality coaching and a zero cost recreational/club model.
Youth sports is now an estimated $17 billion industry, largely driven by the increasing costs of travel teams.
Parents spend thousands of dollars a year to put their kids through club organizations and training, when only 2% of student-athletes receive a scholarship to play in college. The most you get out of your investment in club organizations is typically the relationships built and overall experience. We plan to provide all of this for free, especially considering, the increasing cost of travel teams forces many kids out of sports due to lack of finances.
45% of children today play only one sport.
Our program is supported by several collegiate programs due to our focus on leadership and multi-sport development. We believe athletes benefit from a diverse athletic background, as early specialization in a single sport can increase risks of injury, burnout, and depression. Most college coaches seek well-rounded athletes, and our program promotes multi-sport participation year-round to support this ideal.
